To the editor — I am voting for Sarah Matheny for Yakima County clerk and I strongly encourage my fellow voters to as well. The clerk’s position is a very important one. We need someone that has a proven track record of management, budgeting, fiscal operations and judicial operations. Of the candidates running to replace Kim Eaton, Sarah Matheny is the only candidate that has proven management, budgeting and judicial operations experience needed to assume leadership of the clerk’s office. Sarah will improve customer service for taxpayers who use the clerk’s office. She will increase productivity by replacing outdated software systems such as the clerk’s current document imaging and court calendaring systems, and she will make collection of legal financial obligations from convicted criminals one of her top priorities. Sarah is also the only candidate with real business management experience and budgeting experience. She managed over 300 people, handled multiple-million dollar budgets, and turned unprofitable stores into profitable ones. With her combined years of management experience and judicial operations experience, Sarah Matheny has the right experience and is the real right choice to be our next Yakima County clerk. I therefore highly recommend that you vote for Sarah Matheny for Yakima County clerk.
