To the listener in high school who was seeking advice on when its ok to fight someone else who is bullying them. You know who you are. So, let me catch you all up here, the bully hasnt picked a fight .....yet and he wants to know how to confront him at school. First off let me tell you, the reason why bullies exist is because 99% of the time they are dealing with deep personal trauma at home, theyre dad abuses them in some shape or form, theyre family is in shambles, theyre depressed, etc all of that, therefore they look to take their aggression and anger out on others. I feel sorry for them, and thats the word I want you to use. This is going to be hard but trust me, Ive seen results and Ive done this myself when I got older and knew better NOT to fight. Heres what you do, he confronts you, you find him whatever. When that moment happens put your hand out to him, yup you heard me, put your hand out in a form of peace and tell him, hey, Im SORRY. Im sorry that things between us have been sour and we cant get along, can we change that? you know what you just did there? its called being a man, the BIGGER man. A man doesnt look to solve his problems with violence, he solves them with a cool, calm and decisive mind. Now when that happens, hes gonna look at you like what the *&^% just happened? if he shakes your hand, you just SQUASHED the situation. It SHOULD be over at that point. However, if he friggin hits you, then by all means, DEFEND YOURSELF at that point. If he doesnt accept the handshake, and he storms off, then tell everyone what just happened, friends, school officials, the Principal, EVERYONE. So that when he confronts you again and a fight does occur and you have to defend yourself, you warned EVERYONE of the previous situation. You told them look I tried to squash it and he wasnt having any of it, if a fight happens I want you to know I did my part. Trust me on this, in the 31 years Ive been around its not worth it unless youve exhausted every attempt at peace and youre being threatened. I hope this helps! I love you all!
