To the man getting into the white truck today in the parking lot of Pembroke center Dunkin Donuts, I know you probably thought you were paying me a compliment by yelling youre gorgeous at me (while I sat alone in my car with the windows rolled up), so I am not angry with you. But, I am upset with the mentality of men everywhere (not ALL men of course) that assume women want to be shouted at anytime they decide to go out in public. Dont get me wrong, Im sure there are plenty of women who enjoy the attention, but they dont account for everyone. Personally, having a middle-aged man whom Ive never met shout things at me about his apparent approval of my physical appearance, made me feel very uncomfortable. I did not ask for your opinion, I was not looking for compliments, I was simply trying to get a delicious DD coffee and go home. So please, man in the white truck, next time you see a young woman sitting alone in her car with the windows rolled up- unless that woman is your wife, girlfriend, daughter, friend, or colleague, dont shout things at her.
