To the memory UK guitarist, singer, songwriter John Martyn, born on this day in 1948. His extraordinary 1973 album ‘Solid Air’ featured Tempest fiddler Sue Draheim, who sadly passed away last year.. The album and other of John Martyn’s work was widely regarded as some of the most soulful and innovative singer songwriter recordings of the era, and has been been cited as an influence by artists as varied as U2, Portishead and Eric Clapton. Martyn died in hospital on the 30th of January 2009 in Ireland at the age of 60.
