UPDATE: Comet was adopted in July and heres an update and photo from Comets mom, Gabrielle. He has settled in completely here and loves his home! He spends his days playing with his toys, chewing bones, listening/watching outside on the porch, cuddling, going for long walks, or playing with his friends (here and at the dog park)! He has a few really good dog buddies at the complex, his best friends are a shar pei his age named Juliet and a mutt a little younger than him named Lincoln. We go to the dog park about 3-4 times a week, the new one just opened and its only 1.5 miles away! Comet no longer chews! I keep his toys in a bin and he now knows where to go look for them! He has learned a variety of commands and is incredibly good at listening. He knows sit, shake, down, stay, wait (on a walk for example), go crate, go potty (he actually goes and looks for a place to go), heel, go to bed, kiss, and then I have taught him commands to aid with his vision impairment! These include step up, step down, step over, and careful. All of my dogs have been smart but he is by far the most responsive. I can be 20 feet away from him but if he hears me say ‘Comet sit,’ he will sit right there! He is an absolutely incredible dog! We have bonded even more and he rarely leaves my side (even hangs out in the bathroom when I get read) and I like to think he fully trusts me now. He is not as shy or as skittish as he was, readily and happily approaching other animals (yes not just dogs; cats, ducks, rodents, etc.) and people!
