To the people who have re-posted the obviously photo shopped picture of Bill Gates offering $5,000 for sharing the picture please consider this: In 2012 there were approximately 314 million people in the United States alone, 51% of which have Facebook accounts (As of 6/1/2011, see Forbes article below). This means that if every American with a Facebook account shared that photo bill gates would owe 800.7 billion dollars (314,000,000 X .51 X 5,000). Now consider that as of May 17, 2013 Bill Gates had regained the title of "richest man in the world with a net worth of 72.7 billion dollars (See Celebrity Net Worth article below). This means that if 9% of American Facebook users shared this picture and Mr. Gates actually paid them, he would go bankrupt (excluding the issues associated with turning net worth into actual liquid cash). Finally consider the fact that Facebook claims to have 1.1 billion active users worldwide.
