To the upstanding human being who dumped off their unwanted cats this spring to live in the country... Thank you. The orange tabby was hit on the road in front of my house in May...the small black cat has disappeared and was likely a meal for a coyote or got caught in a trap. The remaining scrawny gray tabby that I have been trying to gain its trust enough to catch has now had kittens who are feral. If you no longer want your pets...do not turn them out to run free in the country. They are domestic animals. The sad reality is most of them die within 6 months...hit by cars, eaten by predators, caught in traps, starve and freeze to death in our harsh Iowa winters. Take them to a shelter...at least there they will be given a fighting chance. As for you, I would like very much to drop you off in the middle of the North Woods with nothing but the clothes on your back so that you might roam free and get on touch with nature. No doubt you have children.., great values you are teaching out future generations. Sorry...rant over!!
