To those of you who dont know the reality of the facts behind the cliche, Dont Shop, Adopt, read on please. First, the # of litters a female dog can safely have depends upon their size and their heat cycles...but overall a female should NOT breed more than 2-3 litters in her lifetime. It takes a tremendous toll on their body and when the female cannot bear anymore litters they terminate her, usually in the least expensive way such as a shotgun to their head. You may not know this because they dont want you to know. Breeders will overbreed until the point of death, just for money......they have no regard for the health of the mother or of the pups. It is disgusting what we do to our animals.....and even more disgusting is that our country does nothing to stop this. Breeders continue to sell to pet stores and our government does nothing to stop it. 7000 PER DAY. That is the rate of how many dogs are euthanized IN THE US ALONE !!! ....because there is simply a lack of space for the ones already here !!!!! ....while breeders (backyard or large scale) continue to exponentially add to the extreme overpopulation problem which only results in countless and needless deaths. These are lazy people who dont want to get real jobs and contribute to solving the problems of our animal society, yet instead they knowingly add to the problem so many of us dedicate our lives to solving. If you buy you are part of the problem. We need to get all animals currently in shelters out and into homes, or they are certain to die there. There are only 2 reasons to breed......to maintain the breed, and to generate dogs worthy of becoming Service Dogs (most Service Dogs need to be of larger size to pull wheelchairs, open doors, etc.). Any dog with the right temperament can become a Therapy Dog (for emotional support), but not all Therapy Dogs can be Service Dogs due to size. Keep these facts in mind the next time you hear someone say they are buying from a breeder or from a store, and say and/or do something about it....educate them.....not everyone knows these facts, but the stores and the breeders sure do. For every dog sold in a store or by a breeder, several hundred die.....because the human race is a greedy, ignorant one. Think of the 2.5 million dogs that die alone in shelters, never knowing there is love in this world, or that a world beyond their cages even exists. Everyday you wake up, 7000 more are dead by 7am.....some are not even given a fair chance at adoption. Then compare it to how hard your day is. Please educate those who do not know what they are doing by buying.......ty
