To truly be like Jesus in our world requires that we be like Jesus and not like ourselves. Of the coming Jesus the Prophet Isaiah said, He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear (Isaiah 11:3b). Jesus never depended solely on his physical senses for anything for as He would later teach, What is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit (John 3:6). We have been born again - the Holy Spirit now lives within - and we must give ourselves over to allow the Spirit to lead. That is why I always pray for the eyes of Jesus - to have His heart - and to hear what he hears so my flesh does not get in the way of being like Jesus. Anytime I allow my flesh - and its senses - to rule - I become like me and am no longer like Jesus.
