Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter, Inc. shared Elain Browns photo. 2 hours ago Most of you know that I am involved with a prison dog program at the Lee Arrendale State Prison. The program is called Forever Friends K-9 Rescue. This program does good on so many levels. The dogs come from the Habersham County Animal Care and Control. These are good dogs that just need some training in order to be more adoptable. The ladies benefit in many ways. They learn responsibility and compassion. They are in certification programs, like Vet Assistant and grooming. These programs give the ladies job skills for when they leave the facility. Its a win, win program all around. An added benefit is that, just the presence of the dogs at the prison, has helped morale for a lot of the inmates that arent even in the program. The dogs provide comfort and therapy for all the ladies that they interact with. Im writing this because I would like to raise $190. This money will be used to purchase 8 beds ($10.70 each) for the dogs crates, a furminator grooming tool ($32) and 8 bones ($8 each) for the dogs. Habersham Help is helping us by collecting funds for this program. They are a 501c3 Charitable Non-Profit, so the donation is tax deductible.
