Today, 17yrs ago my son was born. Like his Grandpop, hes the personification of his sun sign. Independent. Magnetic. Driven. Charismatic. Handsome and undeniably full of brilliance. Ive watched him grow into an amazing young man. He has an entrepreneurial mind destined for greatness. Im blessed to know him. I havent been the best father. Slow pay. No pay. Havent been able to give him all he wanted in life. I would sing him a song by Kevin Mahogany every night as a baby to get him to fall asleep. Watched him crawl. Watched him walk. At five or six, I watched him ask a crowd of 10,000 in Central Park if they were having a good time. The crowd went crazy!!! Right them, I knew he was special. Growing up, hes shared the stage with me at every opportunity and always amazes any and everyone who meets him. Not just with his talent, but with his incredible sense of maturity and intelligence. Hes my worst critic and biggest fan. Still roasts me about a horrible acting job I did on this independent movie I was in years back. Im his favorite barber. Hes my favorite emcee. Impeccable writer. Great person. A true LION. My Pop has always said to me, that the most endearing thing in life is to hear your child say they love you. After every phone call or visit, my son daps me with our special dap that we came up with when he was a lot younger... Looks me in my eyes and says... I love you, Pop....and I have to agree with my Pop, who still grabs me close, looks me in the eyes and kisses me on the side of my forehead...
