Today, Allegany celebrates 10 great years of participation in National Public Lands Day! Over 90 people pre-registered to volunteer at Red House on this gorgeous, sunny day. They’re working on gardening projects, painting projects, zoo clean up, invasive plant removal, trails work, litter pick up, and will even unearth the old France Brook Spring from a bunch of overgrowth! Their efforts are greatly enhancing the park! We want to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to all our volunteers and Red House Management and staff, as well as our sponsors, Cabela’s, Clifbar, the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Rick Feuz, and “a friend of Allegany State Park.” If you are interested in participating in next year’s event, please contact the Recreation Department. Check out some of our “Before” and “During” pictures of today’s projects. Stay tuned for the “After” pictures!
