Today, Feed-A-Family Mobile Outreach by Catholic Charities Lake - TopicsExpress

Today, Feed-A-Family Mobile Outreach by Catholic Charities Lake City Regional Office and Florida Gateway Food Bank rolled in to Lake Butler in Union County in another interior rural part of the Diocese of St. Augustine. Shortly before 7:00 we began setting up for the distribution and nearly 55 families were already in line for a distribution that was to begin at 9am. We had gave out 11,712 pounds of the following: fresh produce from Epiphany School garden, frozen blueberries, catfish, chicken & potatoes, fresh bakery items and frozen chocolate coated banana’s and canned foods enough to provide for 6 meals for the families. At the end of 2.5 hours 330 people, 121 families and 1980 meals had been provided to those that are food insecure. In addition we very, very blessed to have a donor that specifically gave $4200 in $50 Shell gift cards to be given for one outreach. Fortunately the first 85 families in line received a gas card in addition to the food. This outreach was chosen as is it 29 miles one way to shopping, doctors, hospitals etc. 10 volunteers, 6 Team members 2 Catholic Charities Board members came together to Put Compassion Into Action. Families continue to struggle to make ends meet with the most basic need being food. With summer upon us and even greater need to provide those meals that the children would have been receiving at school the Feed-A-Family Mobile Outreach helps fill the void. No child should go to bed hungry. To find out more about how you and your family can become involved call 386-754-9180 or catholiccharitieslakecity.org Thank you All Suzanne Edwards
