Today I am donating three artworks to be auctioned for a charity that set out to raise awareness on elephant preservation. Today @ 3PM is the opening ceremony at Pacific Place where they show two of my artworks, the third one will be exhibited at City Plaza. There will also be work of many other fantastic artists, so make sure you come and have a look. Exhibition is from August 1- Septermber 9. Statement: The majestic appearance of elephants coupled with their gentle nature generally invites people to be close to them. Unfortunately, this has led to their abuse and threatened their species as animals are not things to be ‘toyed with’. ‘Rocky’ The installation of ‘Rocky’ is my interpretation of that concept using a very literal approach: The first of the 3-toy series, Rocky is a soft toy rocking animal that comes to life as it is ridden. ‘Little Franky’ Franky is a tiny elephant on wheels that needs to be walked by his caretaker. He was created to be Rocky’s little companion will create a smile on anyone’s face when you walk him. ‘Cuddles’ To complete the toy series, Cuddles is Rocky’s sister, a 1:1 scale plush toy elephant that can and should be loved and hugged.
