Today I announce the passing of my Canon i900D color inkjet printer. It lived to be 10 years old (that’s 287 in electronics years). Fatal print head error diagnosed last week. It was a faithful and dependable servant from the moment it was first plugged it in back in 2003, producing flawless 8x10 color prints on matte or glossy stock just as easily as a single page of black text. It was very nearly replaced a few years ago, but a new top-of-the-line Canon fell woefully short of the standard set by my i900D. Yes, it was noisy and a bit slow, but I’ll carry it to the curb with the knowledge I had the very best one ever made.
