Today, I did something that I have never accomplished before. My kids and I decided to take a more scenic route home from Oklahoma City to Sand Springs. We drove on the Mother Road, home. It was very nostalgic . We saw: antique barns, baby horses, miniature donkeys, a cool red round barn, lots of tractors, cows, horses, deer, chickens. We saw a man walking his horse on the side of the road near Stroud with a huge pack on his horse. We saw bicyclists, motorcycles, hikers, and old vintage cars. We talked about the history of Route 66, and what it means to Oklahoma. We talked about the movie, Cars, and we simply enjoyed our last day of Spring Break 2014. We were not in a hurry, and that was the icing on the cake. I think my kids might remember that trip home, because we werent stuck on the turnpike behind some wreck for an hour. Elizabeth especially loved driving through Chandler because she enjoyed seeing the antiquated swimming pool that I am sure the town children still enjoy. Michael enjoyed seeing all of the old houses and the Creek County race track. I enjoyed seeing the round barn the most, it was really cool. If you read all of this, you should try driving on the old Route 66 sometime, its worth it.
