Today I did the 18mile Templer Way from Haytor to Teignmouth (via the Shaldon Ferry). The rain held off till 16.45 just as I was boarding the ferry so I think I was lucky! Photos i) The lake in Haytor Quarry with water lilies. ii) The marker stone near the start of Templer Way with the end of the walk (mouth of the river Teign) in the distance. iii) Passing Haytor. iv) Views towards Torbay as the Tramway parallels the Bovey Widecombe road. v) Tramway in Yarner Woods, it is very steep here & I wonder how they managed to stop the heavy trucks running away! vi) One of the two railway bridges at Teigngrace on the old line from Newton Abbot to Moretonhampstead & Exeter railway line. vii) The Great Western Railway bought the Stover Cannel/Tramway to build the line & used bits of the Tramway in the bridge. viii) Newton Abbot Quay with about 4 miles to go, note the new bridge for the cycle path. ix) Along the river Teign shore. x) Looking back to Haytor from Coombe Cellars Pub with only 2miles to go!
