Today I found myself with an unexpected day off. Having already - TopicsExpress

Today I found myself with an unexpected day off. Having already perused every possible museum and gift store in this small town I decided to put on my headphones and get myself lost on a walk. As I wandered the edge of the city I glanced into the foothills, past the perigee moon and thought back to the last July I spent in Alaska. As those memories washed over me a song began playing through my headphones. I looked down at my phone, saw the song title and then checked the date. My father died eleven years ago today. His return to my world, sudden illness and untimely death marked a time of intense confusion, sorrow and upheaval in what culminated to be the most painful period of my life. “Whos to say where the wind will take you Whos to say what it is will break you I dont know where the wind will blow Whos to know when the time has come around I dont wanna see you cry I know that this is not goodbye” Eleven years and some things never change. Alaskans drive the big cars. I don’t follow the media, but bears are the big idea. They’re still the big idea. I’m back in Alaska, the time has come around, and I still miss you dad. Take a moment please, wherever you are, and try to taste the salt in the sea or the fragrance of this moment in the air. Hug your loved ones and be good to one another. youtu.be/mwMdO3HK_ws
