Today, I get a call from my mom telling me to come by her house before church. Pushed for time, I went hesitantly not knowing what to expect. When I arrived, she had a gift for me. It is not uncommon to get little things from my mom from time to time. Yes, Im a spoiled child. When I opened the gift, there was the antique jewelry box Id been coveting. The picture is of my great aunt Ada(pronounced Ader). This is a woman Ive heard lots of stories about, a woman of great independence and strength. But what was inside the box was the greatest gift. It was my birth statistics written in my grandmothers handwriting. A woman that loved her granddaughters. I still think of her when I smell a bar of Palmolive bar soap or when looking at old family pictures. Thank you mom for this gift. Im truly blessed!
