Today I had a customer at Ostend Motors who spoke very bad English with a very thick French accent. After taking 15 minutes to convey what she wanted repaired on her car, she left without leaving any details about the vehicle in question. No make, model, year or even rego number. Faced with the ordeal of trying to communicate over a cellphone I had a brainwave thats had me beaming with pride all afternoon. I logged onto translate.google, punched in what I wanted to ask her and translated it into French, then switched the predictive dictionary in the company phone to French and fired off a polite and inquisitive SMS. 5 minutes later she replied with the info I needed and I was able to order the bits for her car. Job done. Customer happy. Boss impressed. Hows THAT for service above and beyond?
