Today, I have mostly been silent, reading posts and comments about Robin Williams, depression and suicide. Last night, we received a text from a young person clearly upset by the news, confessing their own depression and suicidal thoughts. We sent text messages back and forth, promising to pray and offering encouragement. In my heart, I felt we needed to do more. So, tonight we invited the hurting one over, we listened, we shared, we prayed and assured this dear one of our love and support. One thing that came out during our conversation is how much it meant to this weary one to hear from others, even a text message saying hi, or thinking of you, or how are you doing. Good to know! I wanted to pass this on, because someone you know may be given hope and encouragement by something as simple as a text message, or a hug, or a prayer. Lord, make us aware and let us be available!
