Today I read this chilling story. 32 people murdered in 1973 by an arsonist who set fire to The Upstairs Lounge (a gay bar) and The Metropolitan Community Church in New Orleans. Bodies melted together in the fire, the Pastor lay dead hanging form the window for hours, some are never identified. Local talk show hosts made horrific jokes about it, the police brushed it off, Churches refused to host the memorials of the lost. I encourage you to pick up the 7/1/13 issue and weep. We must remember. We must be moved. We must remove ALL hate from our American landscape. Slowly we pick away at it but I encourage each of you to speak up whenever you hear words that diminish, defame and hurt. It must be you who teaches the ignorant and to carry the torch of love for all! If not you, then who?
