Today I received a message from my sister Linda Burman-Hall, telling me about a family living in Mentawai. I am so excited to post the letter here. Perhaps, Other People who have similar troublesome could take the positive side of this message. I have a few words to say, "I thank Ulaumanua who once saved me when I was terribly ill at the age of two. Now I realise His work on me means for others." Tears drop of happiness... Hi Tulik — You will be pleased to hear that my special Betumonga (Pagai Utara) family, Ignatius and Kristina Salamanang, and their eldest child Agnes, age 12, hospitalized with Gall Stones, have been trying the Air Nenas you suggested, and Agnes has passed ±30 green color stones from her body. Instead of sending her to Malacca for specialist surgery, it looks like the doctors in the Rumah Sakit in Padang will allow her to go home. She will continue the AIr Nenas for a couple of months at least. We are buying her a small scooter to go to school, since she is too weak a present to walk 3 km. But I think now she will be able to get her strength back soon. You are a huge hero to me and to Ignas and his family. This incident seems to show how important it is that the Catholic and Protestant people of Mentawai continue to honor the traditional Sabulungan knowledge; the old ways continue to be relevant, and may even save lives. I think all the Pastors and Ministers can agree that using remedies that work with the body to cure, when possible, is better than surgery. Hope you are enjoying your time in Siberut! All best, LIN
