Today I received some devastating news. A very dear friend of mine and fellow Rude Mood musician had passed away. What made the news even more difficult to process was that he had passed almost a year ago. I only found out by a fluke, as yesterday was the unveiling of his headstone and it was posted on his FB feed. It left me feeling kind of strange. I felt as if all this time, I was denied a chance to mourn him as well as the opportunity to offer my condolences to his family. And of course, it also left me wishing I could have done something. I have since reached out to a member of his family and I was able to get details of his death, which was so so tragic. But I was also able to offer to share with them some photos and some music that we all made together. Those times truly were a highlight in my musical career and I considered it a privilege to have created and recorded music as well as performed live with him. He was truly an asset and a great fit for our group; like a jigsaw puzzle piece; the right fit, and since those times that we played together, I have always challenged any drummer Ive included in my group to match his taste as well as his unique time signatures. Many were great, however few really came close. He was also a true friend, and was selfless and there for me during some very trying times in my life. Footsie, you ARE missed. We love you man. And hopefully you are bashing the skins with some heavy hitters upstairs right now.
