Today, I refuse to celebrate the monster of a democracy we practice here . Instead, I mourn the death of freedom. I regret the collapse of peace, unity and love in my dear country. I bleed in the heart for the damage the political class has done on the psyche and conscience of our nation. I cry for the murder of our beautiful dreams of building a great nation where peace and justice reign . I mourn the cruel murder of the hopes of the younger generation of Nigerians. I am sad that as we burry thousands of our compatriots murdered gruesomely and in cold blood every day, our tormentors and oppressors smile to the bank and celebrate our grief. I regret the harvest of hatred and the frightening growth of suspicion among my country men and women. My heart bleeds at our cultivation of tyranny and celebration of corruption. I hate the artificial mountains of insecurity built everywhere around us in the name of democracy. I cry and watch helplessly as our culture of peace, unity, love and morality is systematically substituted with the culture of violence, terror, destruction and enmity . I mourn the death of education, escalation of poverty, proliferation of diseases, growth of hunger, escalation of violence, militarization of politics and many more. Democracy does not only bring freedom, it protects it but our brand of democracy ensured that we lost our freedom, bit by bit, year after year. Today 15 years after an uninterrupted invasion of our land by desperate gangsters in the name of democrats, we have lost all our freedom and we are now slaves in our own land. This is a democracy worst than the most brutal military dictatorship. A democracy of poverty, of stealing and looting. Of killing and maiming. Our democracy like a wild fire in the harmattan , has eaten up everything that made us a nation. Things have fallen apart and the centre is struggling lamely to hold us together. The falcon can not hear the falconer. There is so much confusion that the children can not hear their parents nor can the parents recognize their children. We are running blindly, stumbling and falling on each other . It is brothers eating their brothers. This democracy is not good. Its drivers have lost faith and do not know God. What then is Democracy? Where then is Democracy here? Let me say that we are now harvesting what we planted. The type of society we have, determines our type of leadership. A corrupt society brings forth a corrupt leadership. We must go back to God to have a godly leadership. My heart bleeds as I ask God who is more powerful than our oppressors to salvage our land, chase away bad democrats and usher in a new era of genuine democracy which will give us peace, guarantee our freedom, ensure our unity and love for one another, give us progress and development and make us the great nation we all dream of.
