Today I saw NOAH, the movie. It has little in it from the biblical account. The director, Darren Aronofsky, who is a self described atheist, says NOAH is the least biblical biblical film. That is entirely correct. The biblical account says little about what happened prior to the flood, so of course one would have to use his imagination to develop that script, but what the movie told is highly implausible. It was a mix of science fiction, mysticism, and horror. Fallen angels cast to earth were given monster like rock bodies to shelter Cains wicked descendants, but later a few of them decided to protect Noahs ark building project (and it was never clear to me why). Noah was told by the Creator via a nightmare to build an ark because the world will be destroyed. (Nightmares were the only way Noah received messages from the Creator.). The character Noah was portrayed as a deeply mentally disturbed --almost deranged -- individual whose family feared him for his imbalance. Once the flood comes a stowaway was on the ark hiding and colluding with Ham (one of Noahs sons) to murder Noah. Only two elements were of value. The society was wicked with widespread violence and their portrayal fired my imagination of what it may have been like. Much of that was plausible. Second, because of their widespread wickedness, the Creator (he was never called God) destroyed the world with a flood. Beyond that there was NOTHING that correlated with the biblical account and a lot that outright contradicted the biblical account. If one is going to this movie to learn what the biblical says on this story, it is TOTALLY USELESS. In fact, it could be damaging for those viewers who dont know better. All the the themes were dark. Nothing was happy. In many ways this was a horror movie. The acting, however, was superb, but I thought what a waste of great talent we see here for an awful flawed account. The special effects were good and amazing, however. In short, dont waste your time or money on this movie.
