Today I think we should discuss slip roads There are two uses for slip roads, one is to enter a dual carriageway/motorway. The other is to leave a dual carriageway/motorway. When joining a dual carriageway/motorway, the slip road allows you to increase your speed so you are able to join the road safely. Whilst on the slip, keep an eye over your shoulder, and indicate that you wish to join the main carriageway (this is in case there is some burk who thinks otherwise). You should be able to adjust your speed to match traffic already there. When leaving a dual carriageway/motorway via an exit slip, unless you are unable to due to other road users, maintain your speed, indicate your intention, once on the slip, you should now start to slow down, to an appropriate speed for what else in ahead of you. If you are on a dual carriageway/motorway, and are passing an entry slip as someone is trying to join your road, check it is safe to do so, and if possible move to the outside lane and allow the other car to enter. If you are not able to move out, adjust your speed to allow the other car to merge onto your road.
