Today I turn 28 years old, and I am 100% totally fine with that. In my 27th year, I took some big risks, I fell in love, I started my own business. I decided that I get to define my life and my career. I hope to push myself farther, do more, dream bigger this year. Thanks to Sara Epperhart and Keith Fairbanks for everything. Ive really wanted to do a cheesy gratitude post for awhile, so why not today? Its my birthday, I do what I want! Thanks first of all to Jason Lindberg, for spoiling me rotten and helping me survive even through the last weeks of the campaign. Thanks to Audrey Mahowald & Danie Jones for not only being the most amazing friends, but for providing me with inspiration and courage (and karaoke.) Michael Sensea Beachy, thanks for being an amazingly fun person to make shit with. Aisha Gomez, girl, thanks for keeping me alive. Your hugs are full of amazingness and I miss getting them everyday. You are honestly one of the coolest people Ive ever met. Thanks to Jay Badheartbull and Peggy Flanagan for being amazing role models and mentors. I am very thankful I have strong leaders like yourselves to look up to. Thanks to Lisa Skjefte and Charlie Thayer for being the hardest workers I know, who are always down to put in some sweat to get shit done. This year I really met, or formed better relationships with a lot of amazing new people that I am so excited to work with going forward, and I am so thankful for the work we have already done. Wintana Melekin, you are a rockstar. Dylan & LaCora Yvonne Bradford Kesti, Kristy Clemons Jacob Virden, Chaun Webster, Jeremiah Bey, Tish Jones, thanks for giving me hope for the planet and teaching me new things all the time, even if its usually just through your Facebook posts. Rebecca McDonald, thanks for providing me with so many avenues to make work that makes me proud. You do such amazing work and I am proud to get to play a little part of it. Thanks to Molly Brookfield and Maren Nelson for being my beer snob friends, and always having a ticket for me for a sold-out show. There are so many amazing people I get to interact with all the time. I am full of gratitude that I get to know so many good people. The world, our country can seem terrifying. It can seem like a very hard, uphill climb to where we are going. But almost everyone I know is doing something to make change, and that keeps me full of hope. My theme of 28: Constant Vigilance, Endless Optimism.
