Today, I want to talk about salt. We all need salt to survive as our body need it to accomplish many basic functions, such as muscle movement. By the way, I am really talking about sodium, not sodium chloride, or table salt or even sea salt. One great way to get sodium is by eating green leafy vegetables, celery, cucumber, and of course, seaweed. More on seaweed later... Another reason to consume more greens!:) A note on sea salt and table salt. Sea salt is rich in trace minerals while table salt has been processed to remove "impurities" (including all the naturally occurring minerals), bleached, up to 2% anti-caking agents have been added (such as aluminum, a known health hazard according to the EPA! ), and iodine has been added. So, I always prepare food using Celtic Sea Salt, or Pink Himalayan sea salt. Another sure way of getting iodine is by consuming kelp, a seaweed).
