Today, I was able to use some very basic nursing skills. As Im sitting in Verizon today, an elderly man tripped on the curb and fell on his face. One of the Verizon employees ran out, along with myself, to help him up. He ended up with multiple abrasions to his nose, cheek, chin, and upper lip. Seeing as how I carry my equipment in my trunk, I was able to clean out his wounds and put on some band-aids while his wife was asking me what they should do when they got home (I told them some basic Neosporin would be just fine :D). He had no other wounds and thankfully complained of no pain. I was not only totally pumped to help someone, but I think I felt more blessed than him and his wife did at the situation. Its times like this when I truly know that this job is what I was made to do. As a side note: Want to know what I think? I think everyone should know basic first aid, CPR, and how to help stop someone from choking. They are basic skills that can come in handy when you least expect it. Just like today.
