Today I was blessed to have the opportunity to re-marry the man of my dreams six months since we initially tied the knot, proving I loved him so much I married him TWICE! However, I would like to publicly now acknowledge that there never would have been a wedding, let alone TWO, let alone a wedding, however, were it not for two especially amazing men… who Joshua Mansfield and I are so blessed to have as dear friends. Bishop Wong and Carlos, aka our unofficial officiant and Best Man. I accredit them both for their part in introducing me to the love of my life. In short, Mr. Wong led the horse to water, but Carlito made her drink! Josh and I are eternally grateful to you cupids for your matchmaking. Much love to you both. It has been an insane and hectic year, planning not one but TWO wedding events, and for their loving assistance and thoughtful planning in all things and events, from June till now, I would like to acknowledge my two sisters from other misters, Teena F and Christina Merlin, who are my co-matrons of honor. I had two, for the simple reason that picking between them would have been the equivalent of a parent picking a favourite child. How could I ever choose between two women who, for more than 20 years now, have been by my side as the siblings I never had? I couldnt have asked for better, or more beautiful, matrons of honor and I wanted to take this opportunity to publicly thank them not just for today, but for the years and countless times of love, support, and encouragement. Thanks for all the laughter and memories, ladies. Love you both so very much! Also, many thanks to Miss Hobby Lobby, aka Nicole Thompson– AGAIN - for the exquisite centerpieces, the beautiful wedding box, and last but not least, that gorgeous homemade wedding cake- which my husband never ceased eye-banging AND was every bit as scrumptious as it looked! Nikki you are a crafty domestic goddess/Betty Crocker personified, and we thank you for all youve done for us both times. Muchas Smooches! Im almost done now, so thanks for bearing with me. Before I shut up I would just like to take some time to remember those who cant be with us today. Some who couldnt get the time off, or for whom the distance was too far, and others who will be looking down on us, particularly, my Mom and Nani, I know would have loved to be here. A lot of you know that only year ago I lost my mom, who was the light of my life. A month later, I met the love of my life. I’ve never wondered if Mom would have loved Josh as much as I do…because she sent him to me, my angel, without the wings, to be by my side for the rest of the days of my life. Even though they arent with me today, I know they’re shining down on me from heaven, so I’m going to thank two people to whom this wedding would have meant just as much to as it did for me… I would like to thank both my Mom and Nani, who raised me like a daughter, for all their love, support and guidance throughout my life. Mom and Nani, you were best parent and grandparent a girl could wish for. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for your encouragement. You have shown me the love and commitment involved in a marriage…both of you together with your soul mates till death did you part. And hence, I didn’t settle for anything less than true love because of your example. I knew what to look for and I waited for it … and waited, and waited. It was worth it. Along came my Nemo. He decided we would forgo the whole evasive “seeing each other/are we exclusive” bit altogether and proclaimed me as “MINE!” as of our second date, and proved to me that while there’s a million other fish in the sea…but HE is my Nemo. He brings out the best in me, he makes me laugh and he makes me enjoy each and every moment of life just by being a part of mine. They say that you dont marry someone you can live with – you marry the person who you cannot live without. This is certainly true with Josh, I simply couldnt live without him. Josh….You’re my hope, my spirit and my guide. You’ve stuck by me through some really tough times, and some of my most cherished memories are of times spent with you. This might sound like a cliché, but you truly did make me the happiest girl in the world when you asked me to marry you, and I can honestly say that I’m proud to be writing this now as Mrs Mansfield, and I look forward to growing old and grey with you at my side. Finally, let me end this by thanking every one of my beloved guests once again for coming, just to be with us for our special day, and it meant so much to us. I can honestly say that today would not have been the same if we had not been in the company of our dear friends and family. At weddings it is the guests that create the party atmosphere and you good people most certainly did that for us. May I propose a toast to our absent loves ones, and to love, laughter and friendship. Cheers!
