Today I was divining. For the most part.. Im a scientific person - TopicsExpress

Today I was divining. For the most part.. Im a scientific person although some people will say that I was trained in the soft sciences and more of a naturalist than a hard-nose type. But I typically believe in logic and the scientific method. When my father-in-law (whose background in chemistry) told me he was going to use divining rods to find some power lines in the backyard I laughed. But then I sat there and watched him do it with a couple of pieces of bent coat hanger. He handed them to me and I watched the dang things cross right in my hand in the same place every time. They were accurate. Today I traced the location of an entire pipe running from the house to my shop. Freaky watching those things move of their own accord right in my hand. Now... when you Google this.. the consensus is that it is crap. But I dont buy it. It works. Maybe not for un-chartered aquifers and sources of water.. but it works for pipe and wire. In some ways.. I feel like quantum mechanics gives us a frame work for why this should work whether its through obscure magnetic fields or the ideomotor effect. So folks... what do you think about divining rods? Why in the hell do they work?
