Today I was exploring asymmetrical Waiter Carries with a bar to see what it felt like. I only loaded one side of the bar with a 30 lb kettlebell suspended by a chain and walked 50 steps while staying as vertical as possible. It was a very unique feeling. On the that was closest to the kettlebell I felt like I was actually pushing from the middle / upper part of my back. I felt a contraction in my intercoastals / serattus anterior area across the front on my torso. On the other side I immediately notice my obliques were contracting as well as my lats in an effort to keep the bar from tilting up. By staying as erect as possible my body form a pretty straight but angled position exhibiting core control between my abs, hips, erectors and lower traps. This was not a hugh burden on my legs but it did challenge my stability and stamina. To do this particular activity correctly there is just 3 rules. 1) Grab the bar with a grip even from the center of the bar (notice the markings on the bar) 2) Press overhead maintaining a straight line from head to feet 3) Walk erect as possible at a normal pace. Dont over think this exercise just follow the 3 instruction and let your body feel how to manage the weight . Try it and let me know what you think
