Today I watched back to back rewrite and Serena. The first was a romantic comedy while the second was a drama. I must say that I actually enjoyed rewrite. Hugh Grant was OK but somehow he does not manage to overcome About a a boy. Marisa Tomei was reasonably good in her role. In general the scenario left a lot to be desired, and even though there is a comic undertone it does not deliver much laughter. The problem with the movie is that the absurdity of the situation that was present in about a boy does not exist here. Because of that the movie is what we would call tolerable. Serena was a drama set during the 20s in US. While Jenifer Lawrence and Bradley cooper both capture their individual roles, somehow they do not seem to be able to persuade as couple. While they were amazing in silver linings playbook, they seem to miss the mark here. Again I will blame it on the type of movie. While they are a much better match for a romantic comedy, there is something that they are missing in this film. The thing that comes to mind is that jen law would be much better off if she was cast with someone older than cooper. The casting people made the huge mistaken of adopting a pairing of another movie, believing that it would work.
