Today I went to visit Mr Reginald Dsilva, the senior citizen who was discharged from the Grace Cardiac Hospital in Margao where he was recovering from a foot operation, and placed in the IPA PROVEDORIA a govt old age home without permission from the family, nor the NGO who admitted him to the hospital. I went at the visiting time between 4.00 to 5.30 pm, as was not allowed to meet up with this senior citizen. The nurse on duty told me that they have orders from the Director of IPA provedoria not to let me in as if it was their personal property. As they have been exposed by us the Goa Citizens Welfare Trust and taken to the Human Rights Court for violation of the Human Rights Act against senior citizens residing at these old age homes. This is a total abuse of power and has deprived us of our rights to visit. How are we going to stop these government officials from taking the law into their own hands and get away with it, and we the citizens pay for every mistake we do. I went to check on his condition as he was recovering in a private hospital and havent heard from him ever since. He daughter called me and told me that when she spoke to her father some time back, he complained that the staff had taken his finger print on some document. In the past we had donated more than 5 lakhs worth of equipment that was required for the inmates of PROVEDORIA. At that time we were welcomed. What a horrible world we live in. Jai Hind.
