Today I went to work for a 911 World Trade Center seminar to make sure we register with state and Federal Government before the deadline, in case we come down with something bad. I had put away most of the memories from back then in my subconscious mind, and hoped it would stay there along with the rubber boots in my basement. The lady in charge of the seminar, (NYPD retired and patient,) began talking about how they are losing an average of 2 emergency workers per week right now from diseases contracted during 911, and it all came back to me again. The smells the sounds, all of it .My buddy Vic Accurso , a Fireman, is fighting esophageal cancer now for months, and many guys are coming down with stuff now thirteen years later. I cant thank the Good Lord enough that Ive been fortunate, and that I seem to be ok so far. (Were going to do the medical screening soon ,) and that my old friend Vic is still with me . I figured out all the time they have me on record down there in lower Manhattan, the morgue and ground zero. and it totaled much more than I realized, or wished it had. Im honestly a bit scared about this....No , Im a lot scared. Yup, Ill admit it. Please pray for all the folks that went down there to help, thousand of them from all over our country, and for their families . Good Lord willing, hell let us grow old before we go to be with him.
