Today I went with a friend to visit her senior center in Wareham. I got to meet her friends and saw the love, compassion, and care they have for each other. They were smiling as they sat together, coloring, and simply just enjoying each others company. Today they were supposed to be listening to state Senator Marc Pacheco talk to them about possibly extending the grant for the center to be open. He was a no show. These wonderful seniors need this center for their daily mental, social, intellectual, and emotional sustenance but this guy couldnt make it for some unknown reason. I couldnt sleep tonight and was tossing and turning with anger and disgust that this generation who set up our nation is not being looked after. This generation who fought for the liberty we have are brushed off and thought of as nothing more than years gone by. I dont know what the amount needed to extend the grant but I do know I am tired of hearing about the 1% rhetoric when the ones that espouse it and feed it to the middle class are they themselves in the 1% or far better off than those of us that they try to use for class warfare. I do know that a good amount of these seniors make from $700-$1100/month off Social Security. So lets look at the salaries of a couple of these that spew out the 1% pomposity, I-Vermont Rep.Bernie Sanders & D-Massachusetts Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy III. Both of these men have benefited from the comfortable $174K salary. Albeit Kennedys net worth is Kennedys net worth is estimated to be between $15,605,250 and $55,750,000. A member of the storied Kennedy political dynasty, Kennedys wealth is primarily inherited. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) ranks 84th in the Senate with an estimated net worth of $460,506 in 2012. Lets take Kennedys more conservative $15.6 million and divide that into a monthly salary, $1,300,437.50. Now Rep. Sanders and do the same, $38,375. Obviously there is a disparage between the two but nonetheless much better than me or you, not to mention the seniors on social security. Before those of you on the left start in with how I am only picking on non-Republicans please dont get your panties in a wad. I am upset with all career politicians on both sides of the isle. I chose Bernie Sanders because he is one of the loudest mouths of the 1% yet he sits very comfortable from his throne. I then chose Kennedy because he is from my district and he is in no way shape or form representative of anyone in the district he was elected to except maybe his family. How can those of you swallow the load of minutia those guys slip down your throats and not be angry or dejected that our seniors are treated worse than paupers? opensecrets.org/pfds/summary.php?cid=N00000528&year=2012 businessinsider/richest-congress-new-freshmen-2013-1?op=1#ixzz3Elz38HvW therichest/celebnetworth/lists/celebrity-salary/senator-salary/
