Today I worshipped with Paynesvillie Lutheran. I was thankful to be with them. It was a great day as we presented Bibles and celebrated the gift of Life, our faith life, the gift of our larger churchs life and Gods even larger mission for the world. Pr. Paul Shumaker and Interim Pastor Marlene Elmstrom are off to a great start together. This is a congregation that innovates regularly and is doing a number of things right. In my decade of service three pastors have been formed in this community Amber Ingalsbe, Paul Shumker and Kayla Nelson). I forgot to get a picture of the invitation to worship poster I ran into at lunch down town. It invited people to new life. There were clear welcomes in bulletin and in announcements for new comers or folks who dont know all things church. They have chosen to use large TVs for projection instead of video projectors. These screens are clearer and smaller than normal. You may have to click into the pictures to see those in front. The first traditional worship service had a strong choir and worship music. The second service had one of the stronger worship bands I have experienced in our synod. The way light plays in the worship space is interesting. They also have a significant education ministry on Wednesday night. Plenty of sign here that God is up to something.
