Today Long Lake Lutheran Church of rural St. James closed. I was thankful to be with them to celebrate their last two baptisms, thank God for all the years of ministry, lives touched and to walk with people as they said goodbye to their faith home. In the liturgy, I declare the congregation closed. It always hurts, even as we remember and give thanks for all the ministry that happened in this congregation. In these last years, Pr. Lowell Asplund has been their pastor. This impacts the whole United in Faith Parish as they grow smaller. Their bulletin says Mission Accomplished. I thought I would share pictures of some of the key leaders carrying out items from their sanctuary. I forgot to get a picture in the basement afterwards as we shared a great pot luck. Gods blessings to all the former members now as God calls them towards new congregations where they can build up the body and receive Gods gifts of word and sacrament.
