Today Sharing Life Ministries a group wholeheartedly sponsored by Release International, left our 26 year old female officer Mehwish and her mother feeling cold and vulnerable at the Daewoo Station in Lahore. They cancelled several dates to meet and only agreed this date when I implored them on Christmas Eve after feeling so distressed that we could not help the two teenage victims of gang-rape, who we wanted to provide better protection to, due to their continual postponement - this is the same group that claim to be funding Asia Bibis defence but whose failures led to several postponements and suggestions that delay were intentional in oredr to reap more donations. We were to meet so that we could start building works on the installation of toilets, for the community of Sherish and Farzana ensuring they no longer have to use the forest as a toilet. Today they proved that their goal is not the protection of these vulnerable victims. I have left a message with Release International who passed us on the contact details of Sohail Johnson and his cohort Shalim. Shalim spoke to Mehwish several times including Christmas day and Boxing day and agreed a time to pick them up. He did not arrive at the appointed time, despite them reaching an hour early. This meant they ended up stranded at a station freezing cold and frightened, with no apology or attempt at communication from the Sharing Life Team.. I write this to advise you all that not all groups working in Pakistan are all that they seem. We have found an alternative option for us to undertake this work, and trust God will see his work through to completion.
