Today, Wednesday 25th September, the Met Office weather forecast for Nottingham was hopelessly wrong, as many people out and about without coats or brollies were drenched in heavy morning rain. The Met Office predicted a cold a cold 2013 Summer, we had the hottest one since 2006. The last three winters were predicted to be mild, all three were exceptionally cold. They are apparently building into the computer programmes the effects of global warming, when for 15 years global temperatures have remained constant. So politics rather than science seems to be giving us weather forecasts, best to just tap the barometer, or see what the birds are doing (they disappear if it is about to rain).
