Today a child, just seven years old, will be laid to rest. The same age as Skyler. He passed away last week after having an allergic reaction. He had known food allergies. One of the allergies that Skyler has. He went trick or treating and then ate at a restaurant he ate at many times. All the details surrounding his death have not been released and we may never know what happened! This is the worst fear of having a child with a food allergy! I changed my profile picture to light a candle in support for the family of Joey and also bring a light, even small, to allergy awareness! One in thirteen children are diagnosed with a food allergy. That is about two children per class. Most children with a food allergy having feelings of anxiety and dont want to be left out. Thank you to everyone that has helped Skyler feel comfortable and safe by asking what he can have, letting us know ahead of time what food will be at parties or taking that extra time to read all the ingredients to make sure they are safe. It warms my heart to know he has such wonderful people (friends and family) that surround him! I ask that out just take a moment today, hug your children a little longer, say a prayer for the family of Joey, and know that all allergy families appreciate your support! Xxxxx
