Today a kindly fellow who lent his name to my nominating petitions queried me about how judges become judges. He had heard about a movement that would lead to judges being appointed. There has been talk about that. The didactic turns around whether one wants one person - the guv - to appoint people from a partisan perch, or to allow the presumably uninformed populace to elect them based, largely, on name recognition. What do you think?
