Today at Silver Eagle Refinery there was a tank rupture. The tank contained a thick wax product, which is heated. Refinery crews placed steam and nitrogen into the tank as they move the product to another tank. This process will take most of the afternoon and into the night and creates a white steam cloud, not smoke, into the air. Our Hazmat Team along with the health dept have monitored the area and the neighborhood east of the refinery. No hazards are present at this time There was no fire and no chemicals were spilled from the tank in question. We are still looking into the cause of this incident.
