Today begins the toughest battle of my life! As many of you know, - TopicsExpress

Today begins the toughest battle of my life! As many of you know, my cancer, Hodgkins Lymphoma, returned shortly after being in remission (6 wks), which is highly unusual & rare. The cancer, this time around is in my iliac, groin & low belly. Today, at Parkview Hospital, I start a 4 day heavy duty chemo regiment, which will greatly compromise my immune system. Well do it again in about 3 weeks & after the 2nd round of chemo well do a PET scan to see if theres been any reduction in either cancer activity or size of lymph nodes. If not, well blast a 3rd round of chemo at me. Then 2 weeks later, well head to Indy - IU Med Ctr - for a stem cell transplant. After the transplant & chemo we will do one final PET scan and pray harder than ever that the cancer is finally gone!!! Then we celebrate LIFE!! They say cancer (or any debilitating disease) gives one clarity. Let me tell you that on so many different levels it does. Until you experience it, you cant begin to imagine how much human kindness is out there and surrounding you. Its a gift that only some of us get to experience, but it is absolutely mind blowing and overwhelmingly emotional to see and feel the outpouring of love. The human compassion, genuine kindness, and thoughtfulness is incredibly heartwarming and extremely emotional - the stuff that makes tears roll down your face. I humbly say thank you to all of you for helping me with this fight and for any thoughts youve spent regarding Tom and me with this awful disease!! Thank you Mom and Dad - you simply are the best parents EVER!! Thank you to our amazing kids, Jonathon DeArmond, Mike DeArmond, Kristen DeArmond and to all of our family & friends for your love & support. You immensely touch our hearts! Most of all, thank you to the true love of my life, Tom DeArmond, who has stood by me throughout this past year of hell and took care of me & watched over my feisty self. Thank you for trying to keep the fun & normalcy in our lives, LoverMan! I love you so much, Tom DeArmond! I am one very lucky woman to experience true love! A friend gave me this quote recently and it touched my heart: Anyone can give up, its the easiest thing to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, thats true strength. Defeat is NOT AN OPTION & together well fight this & beat it!! NOTE: Ive set up a caring bridge account where you can check on us from time to time.
