Today has been busy. Crazy busy. And the busy-ness will continue well beyond nightfall. Its just one of those days. If youre anything like me youve heard every guilt-inducing mini-sermon about how we shouldnt be so busy. And we shouldnt. But sometimes we just are and un-busying ourselves would mean not doing the things we must. And so we feel guilty. Because its easier to accept failure than it is to seek success. So where is the balance? How do we accomplish what needs doing without neglecting those who need loving? Heres what I think. Sometimes keeping busy is the very best gift we can give to those we love. Most days Im going from morning till night. Cleaning, cooking, laundering, feeding, crafting, playing, worshiping, studying, teaching, singing, laughing, listening, guiding, loving. All of it is living. And life is a busy business. Sometimes Im scurrying through my day because it must be done. Today, life says so. But some days are more leisure-like and Im wise if I capitalize on those beautiful, yet fleeting, moments. The secret is in learning to listen for the Whisper. Because if youre arent too busy to hear it, and if you arent too busy to respond, you probably arent too busy. Ditch the guilt. Listen for His whisper.
