Today has been one of the most humbling experiences Ive ever - TopicsExpress

Today has been one of the most humbling experiences Ive ever had. I was asked by a lecturer recently to speak in front of all the Art, Design & Architecture faculty at Monash today. This is typically meant as a staff only event, but an exception was made. I was told it was due to my ability to articulate, take ownership, and harness strength to face and overcome seemingly insurmountable difficulties. In the hope that I may become a voice for those who fear speaking up and suffer in silence, I was asked to share my experiences both academic and personal. I wont expand on that here. I have to say: for someone who has always hated public speaking, I did alright. I genuinely didnt expect to have people in tears, coming up to me thanking me, and saying I have inspired them. Im talking people with much more experience, that I look up to and respect. Its not about conceit though, youd have pretty poor perception if you get that read off me. I just feel so happy because it reminds me how much change and progress Ive made. It solidifies a personal victory as well as helping others. I dunno, I thought it was worth sharing and a pretty special thing.
