Today, hundreds of people turned out for the opening of the The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation’s new Chief Joseph Hatchery that’s downstream of Chief Joseph Dam near Bridgeport, Wash. The state-of-the-art hatchery will release up to 2.9 million spring and summer chinook into the Columbia and Snake rivers and help rebuild naturally spawning salmon runs in areas impacted by the construction and operation of the federal dams. BPA is proud to celebrate this successful partnership with the Colville U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, Northwest Power and Conservation Council, Grant PUD, Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission, Douglas County Public Utility District, Chelan County Public Utility District and Nespelem Valley Electric Coop. Check out this video to learn more about the hatchery.
