Today in 1992 Atrocity released the album Todessehnsucht Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg,Germany Technical Death Metal (early), Folk Metal, Gothic/Industrial/Symphonic Metal (later) Status:Active Years active: 1985-present Atrocity are a German Death metal/ goth metal act formed in 1985 in Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg. The style of music on the band´s first two albums were death metal but from the third album Blut (1994) the band began incorporating goth metal and industrial elements to their sound. The band was originally called Instigator, and played grindcore under that name. Atrocity played death metal until Todessehnsucht. However, the on album Blut they started to experiment with non-metal genres. For example, Werk 80 is an album consisted of covers of pop songs from the 1980s. Subsequently, on Atlantis Atrocity went back to extreme metal. Mixed at Daylight Studios, Stuttgart. Mastered at Bauer Studios, Ludwigsburg. Produced by Atrocity. All songs by Atrocity except Archangel by Chuck Schuldiner. Some versions have a bonus track: 11. Archangel (Death cover). Re-released in 2007 (Europe) and 2008 (USA) by Metal Mind Productions in digipack format. Limited to 2000 copies. Todessehnsucht is the second album by Atrocity. At the time the band still played death metal with a technical edge. The album was released in some countries with the title Longing for Death, which is a translation of the original German title. The album was released in 1992 by Roadrunner Records.
