Today in 2003 Runemagick released the album Darkness Death Doom Gothenburg,Sweden Death Metal (early), Death/Doom Metal (later) Status:On hold Years active: 1990 (as Desiderius), 1990-1993 (as Runemagic), 1997-2007 Runemagick is a Swedish doom death metal band. They started out as a pure death metal band but later incorporated more and more doom metal incluences. The band was started in 1990 by Nicklas Terror Rudolfsson under the name Desiderius which was quickly changed to Runemagic. After a few demos the band fall apart. Rudolfsson restored Runemagic in 1997 and added the k to the name. Started in late 1990 with mid-tempo death/doom/black kind of metal style inspired by old death and black metal bands like Celtic Frost, Bathory, Autopsy, Hellhammer, Tiamat… The music has developed over the years as a result of several line-up changes, many recording sessions and releases. With the album “Darkness Death Doom” (2002) and the current line-up, Runemagick finally shaped an own style and forged the formulas of darkness, death and doom -metallic sounds, influenced by old death/black metal roots mixed with mid/slow heavy groove and apocalyptic soundscapes. Runemagick self-released an audio DVD version of this album. It was limited to 14 handnumbered copies and came in a DVD case with printed insert signed by the three band members. It was sold through their website along with a Darkness Death Doom t-shirt and a Runemagick logo button. Recorded and mixed at Magick Sound Studio in Winter 2002-2003.
